Lord,
Why do we have pain?
The pain that gets into our backs, our hips,
our necks when we turn our heads?
What is the purpose of pain?
It interferes with our activities.
We work, it is there
We play, it is there.
We lay still in our beds,
But it is always there.
It robs us of our sleep, our joy.
It holds us in bondage.
For what?
This is not the life you promised Christians.
Where is the joy, Lord, in all of the pain?
If you take away our pain,
Then we could experience joy.
You are taking our joy, our peace.
Why, Lord, why?
God:
My child of little knowledge.
You seek joy and peace and you can find it.
You say, I promised these things to you, and I did.
But I told you to seek my face,
to love your neighbor as yourself.
Yet you say, "Who is my neighbor?"
"Why should I bother him with the Lord?"
I simply told you to love them.
But you don't know him,
You say, "He is too busy to be bothered by me."
These are excuses.
Go to your neighbor,
Show him your love,
You will also show him me.
Get off your bed, you in your pain.
Seek my face,
Love your neighbor.
Peace and joy will also come to you and rest lightly on your heart.
